Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Leaders work with one course throughout the semester, attend lectures, and plan and conduct four interactive group study sessions for that course each week. PAL Leaders are academic leaders on campus who are expected to support the objectives of course support, which are to:
- Provide undergraduate students at Charlotte access to free, peer-to-peer course support.
- Foster an inclusive and collaborative environment for students to learn by implementing strength-focused approaches.
- Promote a collaborative relationship among course support leaders and students that encourages a challenging, yet supportive learning environment, leading to greater educational equity on campus.
Qualifications/Expectations:
PAL Leaders
- work 7-10 hours per week
- Attend class meetings of the course they are selected to support (2-3 hours)
- Conduct 3-4 PAL sessions per week (3-4 hours)
- Create planning sheets for each PAL session (1-3 hours)
- Attend regular staff meetings
- are currently enrolled students
- have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- earned an A in the course they support
- have two recommendations, one from a faculty member
- must check Student Self Service in my.charlotte.edu to make sure they can attend the lecture for the course they support. If there are various sections, they only need to choose one that works for their schedule.
